I just came a cross this re-brand / logo / identity design for the one and only Calvin Harris… As I normally say, the simpler the better when it comes to logotypes, I think Paul Hutchinson out of LA (USA) did a superb job! The new logo and identity design was commissioned though Vincent Haycock Studio… Check out more here!
I saw this the other day and thought to myself, “It’s about time!” The old Humana logo was just too too dated, especially for the insurance sector; which mainly is technology driven these days. I feel the “Intel-esque” design works very well and was a good way to go in this much needed 50th anniversary logo update. The new logo looks like a clean-cut mix of the NeoSans and NeoTech faces that Intel employs. I’m really liking the curves on the “H”, a very memorable feature.
Just released to the public a short while ago, I’ve been seeing this gem pop up on ads everywhere, and why not; this is a really killer display typeface. As the designer, Neil Summerour puts it “… it’s a little Scotch Modern, a little Didone and Didot, a dominant dose of Caslon, and a pinch of Baskerville. A confident, self-reliant typeface that shows just enough to keeping everyone staring and leave them wanting more.” I really couldn’t agree more!
This face contains almost a demure contrast mixed with the flowing curves of a woman’s body, incomplete, almost teasing ball terminals, and serifs that just go on forever… so sharp they would draw blood if you touched them.
Dino Dos Santos captured the best of both worlds in this extraordinary typeface. Really, just look at the printed pages and you’ll see, this face is not like Esta or Georgia, etc. With the originality, most noticeably stated in the “k’s” and cursive “g’s”, it’s NYTE, designed specifically for the New York Times Magazine.
I love how the italics jump off the page like it’s a script face at 10.0 points or 64 points and above. No matter what point size, It’s awesome! Biggups to NYT and the DSType Foundry for making this one freely available to the public.
One of my favorite foundries at the moment, pushing out awesome designs, Latinotype is a new digital type foundry established in the year 2007 in the city of Concepción, Chile. Their goal is to design new typefaces remixing diverse influences related to our South American identity (most often known as “latino”) with high quality products for the contemporary design industry.
