Just ran across this site and thought it was awesome. Lettering vs Calligraphy is an ongoing project by Giuseppe Salerno and Martina Flor consisting of a visual dialogue between a letterer and a calligrapher, where they draw/write a letter responding to a keyword given by a moderator. The adventure aims to explore the capabilities of the two technical approaches. They deliver one letter every day and all of it takes place online where visitors are invited to vote for their favorite.
Surfing the web today, and my eyes were instantly brought to the bright bold prints of Marimekko who have been around since 1951 printing unique prints in-house in Helsinki, Finland where their heart of the company is located. Not only does this location contain their textile printing headquarters but houses a showroom and stores as well.
One of my favorite foundries at the moment, pushing out awesome designs, Latinotype is a new digital type foundry established in the year 2007 in the city of Concepción, Chile. Their goal is to design new typefaces remixing diverse influences related to our South American identity (most often known as “latino”) with high quality products for the contemporary design industry.
I just ran across this cool tutorial on PSDTUTS and thougt it had some awesome info about maximizing your efficency as a designer, and personally I feel non-destructive editing is key. If you are unfamiliar with non-destructive editing, in a nutshell it means not making permanent alterations or do damage to the original image file data placed or otherwise. This will in turn maximize the editability of the file for future revisions, alterations, etc..
